Cultural Trust Historic Preservation Grant
Grant Award:
$12,949 (2007)
Grant Recipient:
Alice Paul Institute
Mount Laurel Township
Paulsdale was the birthplace of Alice Paul, a prominent suffragist who was born in Mount Laurel in 1885.  She died in Moorestown in 1977. Leading the suffrage campaign for the 19th amendment and working for the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment were among her significant achievements.  The house has been restored to its period of significance, 1885-1920, when Alice Paul was a resident.  It is used for public tours, lectures and educational events for young women.

The grant helped fund the repair and refinishing of original wood floors and stairs throughout the house.
