The Daniel Robert House is an 1888 Gothic Revival structure. It is a copy of Alexander Jackson Davis’ award-winning 1846 design for the Harral-Wheeler mansion once located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Lambert and Bunnel of Bridgeport, a firm well-acquainted with Davis’ original plans, executed the design in Somerville. The Bridgeport home was demolished in the 1950s making the Daniel Robert House a sole surviving example of Davis’ historic design. The Daniel Robert House was listed in the National Register for Historic Places in 2008 under Criteria C.

The 2022 Trust grant will help fund the exterior restoration of the south façade, restore foundation windows on the north façade, and address other items identified as short-term needs in an updated Preservation Plan.

The 2018 Trust grant helped fund an update to a 2008 preservation plan. The 2015 Trust grant helped fund the restoration of 15 original windows, including removal of existing storm windows, sash and frame restoration and painting, hardware restoration and weather-stripping installation.
