Double Trouble began as a timbering and cedar mining operation in the late 18th century. In the mid-19th century, cranberry culture was introduced to make use of the cleared land. Today the village and bog have survived without intrusions. They contain a nucleus of buildings that illustrate every aspect of the cranberry production process as well as exhibit buildings that illuminate aspects of the day-to-day life of the individuals involved in cranberry production.
Two Trust matching grants helped fund the restoration and stabilization of the Sawmill and the Packing and Sorting House, both of which contain much original machinery that has now been made fully operational.
