Long Pond Ironworks Historic District contains thirteen residential and commercial buildings and the remains of three iron blast furnaces. During the 18th and 19th centuries, the area was a center for iron production. The ironworks is unique for its industrial-based community surviving largely intact and now preserved as a park. The Friends of Long Pond Ironworks is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation, restoration and interpretation of the park. 

The former Hewitt Church has been certified eligible as contributing to the New Jersey and National Register listed Long Pond Ironworks Historic District. This will require, increasing the district boundary and expanding the period of significance for the district. The Hewitt Church was constructed in 1895 in the Carpenter Gothic style and is significant for its associations with employees living in the village that centered on the Cooper & Hewitt Company and its predecessor companies as well as for being a representative example of its architectural style.  

The 2021 Trust grant will help fund masonry restoration at the foundation, wood sill and post repairs, other structural framing repairs, correcting flashing and drainage issues at the roof connection with the steeple, exterior siding and trim repairs and repair windows and exterior doors to the Hewitt Church. Additionally, the grant will fund a structural investigation of the roof structure and devise a permanent solution to the outward thrust of the existing roof structure. The 2019 Trust grant helped fund a Historic Structures Report for the Hewitt Church. The 2004 Trust grant supported the creation of a site management plan, including a conditions assessment, a preservation plan, and a phased plan for stabilization and restoration of the historic structures in the district. The 1992 grant funded the rehabilitation of the country store as a visitor's orientation center as well as the stabilization of other structures on the site, including two double stone houses, furnace ruins, water wheels and a wheel pit.
