Grant Award: $58,020 (1995) Grant Recipient: Cedar Grove Historical Society County: EssexMunicipality: Cedar Grove Township
At the turn of the last century, James Morgan and his family transformed the Canfield-Morgan farmstead into a truck farm, orchard and country estate. The buildings on the property date to 1845, preserving a picture of the 19th century agricultural lifestyle in populous, suburbanized Essex County.
The Trust grant helped fund stabilization, restoration and rehabilitation of the farmhouse. Situated within a 14-acre municipal park, the farmhouse and surrounding barns now function as a museum of agricultural technology and early 20th century life in Cedar Grove.
