Parker Homestead

Garden State Historic Preservation Trust Fund
Historic Site Management Grant
Grant Award: $44,625 (2008)
Grant Recipient: Little Silver Borough
County: Monmouth
Municipality: Little Silver

The Parker Homestead consists of a farmhouse, several barns, outbuildings, and acres of farmland; it was donated to the borough with the requirement that it be used for history education purposes. Owned by the same family for three centuries, the property is a significant historical, cultural and recreational resource for the community. The farmhouse has sections that date to 1720, early and late 18th century, early and late 19th centure, and the 1910s and 1920s. The complex reflects the evolution of agricultural life in Monmouth County.

The 2008 Trust grant helped fund the preparation of a management plan that explored the possibility of developing a living history museum on the site.
