Presby Memorial Iris Gardens has one of finest collections of iris in the world on 6 1/2 acres within Montclair’s Mountainside Park. Established in 1927 to honor Mr. Frank Presby, founding member of the American Iris Society, the site contains both the Victorian Walther House (purchased in 1977) and an early 20th century arboretum. The Walther House was built as a residence in the 18th century and altered in the 19th century, now providing office space and storage for the Gardens.

The volunteer Citizens Committee of the Iris Gardens recognizes the significance of the house extends beyond utilitarian use and wishes to explore its history and significance. The 2006 Trust grant helped fund the preparation of a site master plan for the house and gardens.
