Built c. 1835-40 in a vernacular Greek Revival style, the structure exhibits Federal-influenced elements and Dutch or folk-art influenced details. The community group acquired the property in 1965 to establish the first library, but is now used as museum and community meeting and storage space.

The Trust grant will help fund phases one and two of a planned preservation campaign. This work includes roof replacement, new gutters and downspouts, clapboard repair, porch restoration and some structural reinforcement. Future work will include interior rehabilitation and new systems.
